Meet our Instructors and Volunteers

Mike McLain - Drawing Instructor

From our earliest days, we draw. And some of us continue to do so throughout our lives, either as a profession or as a hobby. Whatever the level of your drawing talent, you will enjoy as well as benefit from The Center’s new Back to Basics drawing class.

The 10-week course is taught by Mike McLain, who holds a BFA in drawing and sculpture, an MFA in studio art, and is currently on the board of the Palm Springs Museum Artist Council. ”It’s designed for both experienced artists who wish to refresh themselves in basic drawing concepts,” he says, “and for beginners to acquire basic skills.”

Mike, whose work has been shown extensively in and around Los Angeles and Southern California, says: “The class is based on direct observation with the focus on development of the ability to interpret three-dimensional objects into two-dimensional drawing,"

It also starts today (Wednesday, Sept.13),” he adds, “and if you haven’t signed up yet, you’re welcome to just show up, and we’ll take care of the details.”
