Yan Somoza - Clinical Supervisor
Yan’s academic and professional careers have primarily focused on working in multi-cultural and community mental health. While completing a doctoral degree and upon graduating, Yan began honing his skills in examining how patients’ medical concerns may interact with mental health symptoms and determine the best course of action to address these complex needs jointly and synergistically. Yan has been a consultant with various clinics in and around Los Angeles and opened his private practice in Beverly Hills, before moving to Palm Springs. Since moving to the desert, Yan has continued following his passion: offering individual assessments and psychotherapy, delivering training and supervision to providers and staff, and helping to develop programs, particularly surrounding LGBTQ+ mental health. After continued, comprehensive training (such as with WPATH), Yan has consistently worked towards increasing access to LGBTQ+ populations, including ongoing psychotherapy and evaluations in support of gender-affirming treatments. After joining the Behavioral Health @ The Center - Scott Hines Mental Health Clinic as a Clinical Supervisor, Yan seeks to continue passionately and empathetically serving the LGBTQ+ community by providing guidance and support the next generation of compassionate mental health providers.
